Bonita
got a call from Bonita saying that she was turning 50 soon and had a whole list of things to do to mark the occasion…one was getting professional photos done :)  so, bright and early on her birthday we had a terrific time – what an amazing woman.  she knew *exactly* what she wanted – CLOSE close ups :)  And when we started talking through possible locations she said, "Doesn’t even really matter – I just want my face." :)   i was thinking, "okay – this is a new one for me" but got really excited about being part of this iconic celebration of hers.  i knew i’d love her…and i did.  she’s a school teacher and as we talked and shot i found out a bit more of what was in store for the day, amongst them…a tattoo (her first and only)!  made me think a little about what i’d like to do to when 50 comes – maybe snorkeling in thailand?  oh, and having my photo made for sure!  -m-  p.s. tell me what you’ll do in the comments section

wow, happy 50th bonita! I hope I look as good as bonita on my 50th. Not sure what I’ll do on my 50th but that’s too far off…I want to do something GREAT for my 30th…snorkeling in Thailand sounds fun, but I’d settle for snorkeling in the Carribean…I’ve got a year to plan. I really wanted brad to surprise me with a romantic trip like my friend elisa’s hubby did but seeing as how i’m the planner in this family…i have a feeling i’ll be planning it. But i’m thinking tropical and warm. Then no matter what i’ll want to top 30 with 40 and then 40 with 50 but I do love the idea of the photos on a birthday. Pretty cool. And love the close-close-ups…you did a stunning job as always! Love!

My mother has always complained that my dad is just not a jewlery person. For her 50th this year she would have loved a BIG diamond but got a suprise trip to Bermuda instead. It was wonderful- a diamond didn’t include her three children, husband, and her mother! I think its wonderful celebrating a mild stone in a way that suits you! I loved the picture! Happy Birthday Bonita!

Hey Melanie! As usual, awesome job, and Bonita is beautiful! I hope to look half that great when I hit 50! I plan on spending a three month meditative retreat in India. I have wanted to do that for a long time, but think 50 would be perfect to reflect and meditate on past, present and future. I want to put aside all things material, and just reflect….
Have a wonderful day, and give your beautiful daughter and hug and kiss from me! -Karen- :-)

When I am fifty I want to have a HUGE celebration with all my close friends and family… somewhere cool and unusual. I love planning things so that would be fun to plan. And I will have Melanie take some pictures for me at the celebration? I have quite a few years to think about it I suppose…

Wow! Bonita looks amazing. When I’m 50 I’ll settle for a little salt and pepper in my hair and the knowledge and experience that goes with it.

Bonita is gorgeous. What a fantastic photo!

Melanie…it is a great shot, at any age! Love to have you take one of me, cool and hip like that too. (We’ll talk). I did snorkle off the Great Barrier Reef in Australia…must admit it was amazing and I have been to Thailand but didn’t snorkle there. Loved it though. So I think your idea is great. For my 50th…Not too far off now. Maybe a girlfriend weekend in the city (NewYork) great food, a little wine and a hot play…oh and of course a bit of shopping. You in?
